Water Innovation Europe 2018

The Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform WssTP organizes the Water Innovation Europe 2018 with focus on „The road towards a water-smart society: overcoming the water challenges of the future“.

The event takes place

from 13 to 14.06.2018
at the Blue Point Center, Brussels, Belgium.

In the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2018, the water crises rank for the 7th consecutive year among the top 5 global societal risks in terms of impact. The Water Crises are also closely interconnected with other major global risks such as the food crises and the failure of climate-change mitigation and adaptation.

In its Water Vision ‘The Value of Water: Towards a European Future-Proof Water-Smart Society, WssTP has established a clear roadmap that shows how Europe can ensure availability of water for urban, agricultural, and industrial use and deal with the risks of increasing water scarcity, pollution of fresh water sources, and impacts of climate change by implementing 4 key innovation principles. Implementation of this model would also contribute to achieving the SDGs and the circular economy and strengthen Europe’s position in the global water market.

The next few years will be important with, for example, a review of the Water Framework Directive and the Urban Waste Water Directive, the mainstreaming of the circular economy principles in urban and industrial and urban policies, a new Common Agricultural Policy, and a new European Research and Innovation Policy (FP9).

With over 200 participants from all around Europe in every edition, WssTP annual conference ‘Water Innovation Europe’ has grown to become the landmark event of the European water sector every summer. The event brings together all the aspects of the sector: scientists and technology developers, utility representatives, large water users, European and national/ regional policy makers and finance experts. Water Innovation Europe offers an open platform for information gathering and networking among the most influential stakeholders from within and beyond the water sector.

Debate with EU-level decision makers and strategic stakeholders to advocate for the Water mission in FP9. Registration is required. For more information such as programm and speaker visit the conference website (link below).
