Science initiative on phosphorus: sign now

The Helsinki Declaration is a global call for a science initiative on phosphorus. It addresses policy makers worldwide to support progression towards more sustainable phosphorus management.

This call is launched in coordination with the development of the ‘Our Phosphorus Future’ project, funded by the NERC international opportunities fund, with additional support from UN-Environment, European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform and all contributing partners.

The ‘Our Phosphorus Future’ project
The ‘Our Phosphorus Future’ project is a two year project (concluding in March 2019), funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) international opportunities fund, with additional support from UN-Environment and the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP).  The project is currently being delivered by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.

Project aims
As a ‘pump-priming’ project, the project aims to be the first output from a long-term multi-stakeholder network of international experts. This network will provide the necessary scientific authority to support development of novel global phosphorus policy.
